SUV Solution:
Guardian's "off-the-shelf" improvements to engine and body design would cut over 27 tons of global warming emissions as compared to the Ford Explorer. Guardian XSE technologies increases the reduction to 49 tons.

The Union of Concerned Scientists is a nonprofit partnership of scientists and citizens combining rigorous scientific analysis, innovative policy development, and effective citizen advocacy to achieve practical solutions that benefit the consumer and the environment.

The UCS Clean Vehicles program focuses on changing current transportation priorities, which currently favor an unnecessary reliance on fossil fuel-intensive motor vehicles. The program develops and promotes innovative strategies to make less polluting and more energy efficient vehicles, and provides information to policymakers, the media, consumers, and the general public about the impact that transportation policy has on public health, the environment, the economy, and national energy security.
